She was born in Roswell on March 29, 1985. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her birth name. Gerina Stevenson's parents include Mexican Alan Stevenson & Rita Stevenson. Her parents are Mexican as well as American. Since she was a child, she's been very attracted to sports. Gerina played golf when she was just age 15. Gerina attended Goddard High School. She was the winner of New Mexico's state golf championship. In addition to volleyball, she competed on an official level. In the year 2003 she was enrolled in the University of Texas. She won all of the events she took part in throughout her senior year. Through her college professional career, she took home an award for Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year award and the Female UTEP athlete of the Year.
